What's the Didactic Farm?
To give a brief answer to this question we can say the following:
“The Didactic Farm is a laboratory of knowledge, organized in an emotional way”
The didactic farm was born from an educational project of the company, which opens its doors to schools and organized groups in a multifunctional optical. It is a moment of contact between the city and the country, to raise awareness of animal life, the origin of the products we consume, and their history.
In an era of globalization, the social and cultural changes in technology have profoundly changed the relationship with food, and consequently with the world of primary production, but paradoxically it is increasingly difficult to know or recognize what is around us, what is grown in our countryside, the path that makes the food to arrive on our table, who produces it and how it is produced.
- Enhance the relationship between City and Country.
- Learn about plants and animals on the farm.
- Create interest in the discovery of the environment and agricultural activities.
- Promote the recovery of cultural and environmental value of its territory.
Highlight the importance and the social role of agriculture.
- Raise awareness of the environment.
The farm Galassa is a farm enrolled in the Regional, and is therefore listed in 2012 on the site responsible. individual families or school groups can visit the company at certain times of year.
The laboratories are changed every year and shall be agreed with the teachers what they put in place depending on the age of the kids.

With regard to the educational farm offers two innovative workshops to schools result of knowledge gained this year.
SQUEEZING OF APPLES
The squeezing of apples is done by using a press to extract the juice, and it all takes place inside the ‘company itself. This activity is designed to teach children that this popular method in England does not alter nutritional values fruit as do the normal blenders. This squeezing uses the apples produced in-house.
This activity provides an epoch of direct observation of the animals on the farm, how they live, how they communicate with each other and their care and feeding. The visiting children will enjoy the company of the following groups of animals:
The farm animals on the farm are: Galli Hens, geese, ducks, turkeys And Pharaoh.
The wild animals of our countryside: Pheasants, Ricci, Moles and Mice.
The animal companions factor: Dog, Cat, Donkey, Pony.
The activity also provides a brief family tree introduction of horses and their historical development and their cooperation with the man. It then goes to the knowledge of the farm’s horses: the donkey Rosy and small pony present learning how to eat, how to clean, how to Bardano and how they communicate. Finally, every child can do the baptism of the saddle with a ride on the ponies.
The activity ends with a horseshoe painting.
APPLE IN KITCHEN
With this workshop we want to raise awareness to the creative use of a highly healthy product like Apple.
For this activity we propose drying apple, showing all the steps necessary to obtain the finished product in a fun and safe.
CARAMELISING OF APPLES
Another between the laboratory experience we offer is caramelising of whole apples or in pieces, ancient custom in this case China that helps to enjoy this fruit also in a different way. The caramel obtained by melting sugar which has to reach a very high temperature thus avoiding to crystallize on the skin of the apple. This experience aims to appreciate the fruit to children by joining all the use of beet sugar, an ancient crop of our land.
THE LITTLE TRAIN
With this activity we want to show the entire enterprise and the production process of our products in an innovative and absolutely fun way for all children: A small train pulled by a tractor in which each participant can enjoy the tour for the areas of the whole company enjoying a particularly scenic spot and educational!
In this activity we want to convey the concept of eco-sustainability to pupils. Create glasses with apples not only drink, but also teaches it will make it more attractive and tasty to use this kind of idea respects nature and also gives a cheerful touch of novelty in the way of drinking.
Our proposal is based on the relationship with the animal and the rural world, with two laboratories in the context of meeting and knowledge of how to communicate and live animals of different species.
The company and all its operators believe that knowing who is also different biologically aid to understand how many different points of view on the world, and understand that each individual is unique, is to give dignity and value to everyone, man or animal.
One of the most effective means to give human beings the opportunity to understand animals is to introduce the knowledge of animals, real ones, not the ones offered, as soon as possible in the lives of children.
Experience has shown us how elementary school children are motivated to understand the messages and the needs of the animals and how they are willing to listen to explanations and demonstrations, as well as to get personally involved by telling stories, asking questions.
Children are less difficult to open up to the animal world, than adults, and are easy to understand for example that those who use the nose before the eyes can perceive the world differently: are open to the recognition of the value of each individual who has a history , a look, a way of communicating different from them.
